Welcome to Indian Hills Handwovens and Llamas!

Our ranch is located 15 miles north of Salida, Colorado, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. It is currently home to some 40 llamas, alpacas, and paco-vicunas. Most of the wonderful, soft fibers produced by our animals is made into clean and carded spinning fibers, yarns of various weights, and felted batts. Much of my weaving is created from these fibers as well. Our commitment is to offer fiber artists the very best spinning fibers and yarns possible.

Three years ago we partnered with Cheri Paxson of Pax Knits to begin a new business called Goosebump Yarns. We purchase prize-winning alpaca and paco-vicuna fleeces from a few select Colorado ranches - they are some of the best fleeces to be had in the country. We are now producing from these fleeces a line of exquisite yarns, both in naturals and hand-dyed, and a selection of spinning fibers in both naturals and dyed as well. We are at the present time the only company to offer 100% paco-vicuna yarns for sale. The name of our small company was very easy to come by - when you touch our fibers, you will truly get goosebumps! We urge you to try this delicious yarn - it is very special!

Our Fibers

We carry a host of fibers here at Indian Hills - many are from our own llamas, alpacas, and paco-vicunas. Our fibers and yarns come in a variety of colors: white, cream, tan, honey, gray, medium brown, dark brown, and black. We also offer a selection of colors as well.

Fibers can be purchased raw, or cleaned and carded.

Our spinning fibers include llama, alpaca, paco-vicuna, camel top, cashmere, mulberry silk sliver, bleached tussah silk sliver, yak, superfine merino top, cotton, and flax.

Blends include mulberry silk/merino, camel/tussah silk top, camel/merino top, yak/merino, yak/tussah silk top, and angora/merino top. Please contact us for current prices on these fibers.

        

Spinning Wheels and Looms

We are Schacht dealers, and carry a full range of their products. Our offerings include the Sidekick, Schacht’s newest spinning wheel (due out in May 2011), the Ladybug, the Schacht-Reeves wheel, and the Matchless. Looms range from the very portable Cricket Rigid Heddle Loom, to the Standard floor loom, with everything in between. Please write or call for a current price list. Shuttles, winding tools, and other small equipment - whatever you might need for your fiber work! We believe that Schacht products are the best out there!
